Product Description

This is the perfect Cast Iron Handle Cover for the modern Viking or Shieldmaiden. Use your cast iron skillet with confidence, as you adorn it with your own rune or bindrune. Bring your pagan nature into your everyday tools with this pot holder for many years to come.

Handsewing vs Machine Sewing: While both options provide a neat stitch with many years of durability, handsewing is more long-lasting and has a cleaner look than machine sewing. I use high quality waxed thread for hand stitching, and the "saddle stitch" I use is a traditional leatherworking stitch that traces back to at least 300AD.

*Note: This pan holder serves to protect your hands from the heat during stovetop use. It should not be left on the pan during oven cooking.*

Algiz Black: Dyed black, and engraved with the Algiz rune, for "Protection".

Fehu Mahogany: Dyed mahogany, and engraved with the Fehu rune, for "Wealth".

Raidho Tan: Dyed tan, and engraved with the Raidho rune, for "Journey".

Othala Brown: Dyed brown, and engraved with the Othala rune, for "Home".

The runes I engrave on my pieces are the Elder Futhark runic alphabet. These runes were used by the ancient Germanic people (and early Viking Age) for recording information and channeling spiritual energy. A bindrune is a symbol that is made up of multiple runes, generally used as a symbolic or ritual charm.

If ordering a pre-set colorway, the runes used are listed in the Colorway Descriptions. If you are ordering the custom option, follow the instructions to choose your rune selection. You can also simply tell me the intended purpose or story of the piece (protection, health, prosperity, courage, etc) and I will choose the rune or runes best suited to your purpose.

While I make every effort to match the color swatches and product photos shown, no two pieces will be exactly the same. Leather is a natural material and you can expect variations in color or natural markings which lend to the uniqueness of each piece.
