The Shieldmaiden Lookbook

We did this epic photoshoot on a very chilly January day, immediately after a Boston Women's March had occupied this very park. We took several hot chocolate breaks to warm up my numb fingers, and watched the protesters still milling about with their signs. This outfit was entirely handcrafted, from the handmade shield that a friend made for me, to the my skirts that I ripped and tattered, to my sheepskin cowl that I made out of a rug that I got in Iceland. I even made the wrist warmers with a traditional Icelandic Nålbinding technique. And of course, no Viking outfit is complete without my Warrior's Knotwork Belt and Rune Pouch.
