Beginnings: Earthwardens

Beginnings: Earthwardens

Hello fellow adventurers,

This week I want to take you behind the scenes to November of 2019, when I designed and released my Earthwardens Collection. Creating this line was a very personal experience, as well as a practical one. After a sadly short and colorless autumn, I knew I wanted to do something to help fight climate change. It was also my goal to start creating pieces that reach a wider audience, and create a line of products that could easily be sold in stores.

So, I set to work thinking up all of the everyday items I wish I had during my travels that year. Alex was the first to suggest a coffee cozy. I took that further, and designed a coffee cozy with a handle. Then, because I have a slight obsession with multi-functional products, I figured out how to transform it into a carry strap, or even a waterbottle holder. Thus, the Universal Cup Holder was born.

The Day Pack came to me all at once, like a vision - I drew it out and crafted it first try, without needing to make any changes. I can still remember how excited I was - it was my perfect pack, the one I had been searching for all my life.

The other pieces were quick to follow, and my goal was to make them fit together both aesthetically and physically. The carry strap can be looped onto the Day Pack's straps, and can clip onto the Travel Wallet and Cord Organizer. They all sport a leaf or feather which is a perfect canvas for the wearer's rune. And best of all, they're all made from recycled leather, which means the colors are always new and unique.

Swipe through my sketches below to see the original drawings from all of those idea sessions. My notes are almost illegible at times, but the thought process is still clear in the lines. I hope you enjoy getting a peak behind the scenes!

Have an idea for next week's Inner Circle Post? Let me know in the comments!

Love & Light,
Marin
